Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas announced a three-year partnership to boost outdoor recreation safety programs launching in the 2026-27 school year.
The program will include hunter, boater and later ATV safety education courses, and graduating seniors demonstrating certifications will earn an Outdoor Safety Graduation Cord.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is hosting local outdoor events this spring — a gear swap meet at the Hunt Family Nature Center in Springdale Saturday and Fishing Fridays on March 27 at Murphy Park pond, with volunteer opportunities statewide.
Residents may register online to join these nature activities.

Arkansas softball won by a score of 12 to 0 on Monday at Missouri State with Ella McDowell hitting a grand slam and strong pitching limiting the Bears.
The Razorbacks improved to a record of 22 to 2 and will face Alabama in a three game series this weekend.
Ella McDowell hit her second consecutive grand slam to help the No. 9 Razorbacks win 12-0 over Missouri State on Monday.
The sophomore third baseman now has 7 homers and 34 RBIs, and Arkansas will face Alabama in an SEC series this weekend.
Arkansas men's basketball moved from No. 20 to No. 17 in the AP Top 25 after wins against Texas and Missouri.
The Razorbacks will play one of Texas A&M, South Carolina or Oklahoma in the SEC Tournament on Friday at Bridgestone Arena.
