CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A local circuit judge in Benton County ordered two more suspects in the killing of a Rogers man to be held without bond at the county jail. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers sent a bill to the governor that would allow executions by nitrogen gas if signed—making Arkansas the fifth state to use this method. The Senate approved HB 1489 by a 26—9 vote as officials search for alternatives amid challenges with lethal injection. Fayetteville Flyer
- ➤ New U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that Northwest Arkansas is still the fastest-growing metro and Benton County grew by 3% with 9,318 new residents as of July 1, 2024. Alison Wright from the Arkansas Economic Development Institute said most counties gained people from migration and births, while Pulaski County grew mainly from more births than deaths + nearly all counties had positive net migration.
