CULTURE NEWS

  • Little Big Town will begin their Summer Tour '25 on July 24 at Walmart AMP in Rogers where gates open at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m. Special guests (Carly Pearce and Carter Faith) will join them and tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 11 with prices from $39.50 to $129.50.  KNWA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pete Joenks will become principal at Elmdale Elementary School this summer after retiring principal Michele Hutton leaves the district, the school said today. Joenks served as high school principal from 2010 to 2018 and has 38 years teaching—31 of those in Springdale.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Senate Education committee forwarded a proposal on Monday to raise per-student funding for public schools by 2.48%—sending the legislation to the Senate. Lawmakers will review the measure as they decide next steps for school funding statewide.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A bill that would require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public school and college classroom was sent to the governor for review. If approved, Arkansas will join Louisiana in implementing the policy.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Arkansas House of Representatives approved a proposed amendment to bar noncitizens from voting in state and local elections. Lawmakers will review the resolution next+ its passage could change voting rules if it becomes law.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
