  • A delivery driver is accused of stealing the Officer Down Memorial K9 statue from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office after it was donated by a garden center in Garfield—video from the office's Facebook page shows him leaving with it.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Prairie Grove police arrested attorney Justin L. Crawley on forgery and theft charges after a months-long investigation—initiated by a U.S. Department of Agriculture report on a forged check for $160,362.90—uncovered a pattern of fraudulent financial activity affecting at least 24 victims since 2020.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 10, the Arkansas House approved a bill to raise per-student foundation funding from $7,771 to $8,162 for the next school year—lawmakers said the change will help local schools.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Students participated in Build My Future's fourth annual Construction Career Day — an industry showcase held at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale — where they learned practical skills and met local employers about construction careers.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • An Arkansas Senate committee voted down House Bill 1004, a proposal to extend Medicaid coverage to 12 months for new mothers who do not qualify for Medicaid expansion — the bill had passed the House on April 1 but failed in committee on April 9.  Fayetteville Flyer

SPORTS NEWS

  • Razorback Athletics finished No. 17 overall and fourth in the SEC — earning 497.2 points from the latest Directors’ Cup standings released on April 10th. Coach John Calipari’s men’s basketball team boosted the total with a Sweet 16 tournament run — marking the first time in school history the Razorbacks have finished in the top 20 for four straight years.  NWA Business Journal
