- ➤ University of Arkansas alumnus Jim von Gremp and his wife Susan gave $100,000 to the Land of Opportunity Scholarship campaign to help Arkansas high school graduates stay in state for college. The donation is part of a three-year effort—aimed at expanding educational access statewide. NWA Business Journal

- ➤ On Monday, April 14, Gov. Sanders signed several bills into law—including the Teacher and Student Protection Act that stops violent students from joining the class with those they harmed. Other laws change school transfer dates, warn about vapor risks, and broaden criteria for capital crime charges. 5 News
- ➤ Arkansas turkey hunters will need to carry a hunting tag and license this season so the Game and Fish Commission can track hunter numbers. Residents will get free RTT or YTT tags to bag two gobblers while nonresidents must buy a tag and may bag only one gobbler. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ The Arkansas House approved Monday a bill banning diversity, equity and inclusion offices, policies or practices in local governments — the bill will now move through the lawmaking process. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders asked USDA to ban soda and candy from SNAP to help more than 100,000 households eat healthier — her proposal also would let households buy rotisserie chicken for balanced meals. A 30-day public comment period has opened — residents can share their opinions on the proposed changes. 5 News
- ➤ Gov. Sarah Sanders announced today that Arkansas submitted a waiver to remove soft drinks, unhealthy drinks and candy from SNAP benefits — and add rotisserie chicken to encourage healthier choices. The waiver was mailed to the USDA yesterday and opens a 30-day public comment period. 4029 News
