CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies arrested 55-year-old Richard Brian Copeland—accused of using a pen camera to spy on women—after a customer discovered the device in the women's bathroom at Sassafras Springs Vineyard and Winery on April 12 in Springdale; his bond was set at $150,000 with a hearing on May 2 and arraignment on May 28.  4029 News
  • A Rogers man was ordered held without bond by a judge at Washington County Detention Center in connection to a fatal Springdale shooting—one person died and another was injured.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Arkansas reinstated the visas of five international students (whose statuses were revoked last month), a spokesperson confirmed on Thursday. Officials have not identified the students (or explained the reasons for the revocations).  Fayetteville Flyer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas' 95th General Assembly returned from a two and a half week recess and is set to adjourn sine die on Monday if no new business arises—lawmakers finished nearly all their work before the break—and will move into interim committees to study issues for the next session.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Matt Jones joined Clay Henry on their weekday podcast to review the Razorbacks' 9-0 win over top-ranked Texas and KB Sides explained the 12-9 win over No. 10 LSU in Game 1 at Bogle Park.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • After a 9-0 shutout of the No. 1 Texas Longhorns on May 1 at Baum-Walker Stadium, the Razorbacks will try to clinch the series today at 2 p.m. on SEC Network—pitchers Zach Root and Will McEntire led the win and set up the decisive contest.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • Arkansas pitchers led by Zach Root and Gage Wood recorded strong strikeouts in a 9-0 win at Baum-Walker Stadium — keeping No. 1 Texas scoreless in Thursday’s opener.
