- ➤ The Mount Sequoyah Center has issued a request for proposals for an experienced local operator to open a coffee shop in its Ozark building (located behind Parker Hall on North Skyline Drive). Proposals are due by May 30 and the new cafe may serve coffee, tea, and light snacks (with permission to offer beer and wine) to build community connections through nature and the arts. - ➤ Springdale-based Tyson Foods Inc. has named John Tyson and Olivia Tyson to its board of directors—a move made under a year after John Tyson faced arrests and pleaded guilty in 2022 for criminal trespassing and public intoxication. He was later suspended as CFO, arrested again in June for careless driving, and sent a companywide apology while seeking counseling for alcohol abuse. 5 News

- ➤ A Springdale man pleaded not guilty to charges that he took over $100,000 for repair work on properties damaged by last year’s tornadoes but did not perform any repairs, and he faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted—court hearings continue. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Springdale School Board member Izmar 'Eddie' Ramos kept his Zone 5 seat after defeating challenger Donald Tippett in Tuesday’s election covering neighborhoods east of Arkansas 265. - ➤ Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families held a town hall Tuesday at The Jones Center in Springdale to discuss proposed federal budget cuts that may weaken Medicaid, SNAP, Head Start and renter’s assistance programs—experts warned that over 75,000 Arkansans might lose health coverage if the changes take effect. - ➤ The Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training met in Little Rock to review nearly 20 decertification cases from over 15 agencies—including Springdale Police. Cindy Murphy said the department cleared a backlog of hearings—400 audits are planned for this year while Johnson County Sheriff Tom Hughes addressed decertification concerns. 4029 News
