- ➤ Local events this week include a veterans memorial ceremony at 3 p.m. Monday at the GAR Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, summer children’s programs on Thursdays in June at the Fort Smith Museum of History, a Pride Month concert on June 7 at Mount Sequoyah Millar Lodge in Fayetteville and a brain injury workshop hosted by UAMS on May 29 from noon to 2 p.m. Other highlights include fall scholarship applications for single parents due June 15, a Mercy Health fundraiser on June 20 in Rogers, Ozark Society youth conservation grants, a new exhibit on a Black Ozark family at the Shiloh Museum open through early 2026 and a UAMS study using eyetracking to assess word understanding in autistic children funded by a $575,113 NIH grant—each offering a chance for local residents to participate. - ➤ American Legion Post 100 in Rogers is honoring veterans by placing more than 1,000 American flags at gravesites to reflect on those who fought for our freedoms.
