  • Two years after seven tornadoes hit Benton and Madison counties on Memorial Day, crews have repaired much of the damage though some rebuilding remains unfinished + local officials note the community continues to show resilience.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Following a boat fire on Memorial Day weekend at Beaver Lake, firefighters urge boaters to check safety equipment, including life jackets, horns, and fire extinguishers, as water activity rises ahead of the Fourth of July — a busy time for lake recreation.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas received $300,000 in gifts and pledges for its three-year Land of Opportunity Scholarship campaign to expand statewide educational access — contributors include a Mena bank, UA alumni, and Springdale-based Tyson Foods Inc, which donated $100,000 to help poultry science transfer students.  NWA Business Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • After defeating Duke in the Super Regional round, the Arkansas Razorbacks softball team secured its first berth at the Women’s College World Series on Tuesday in Fayetteville; it will compete in Oklahoma City Thursday as it aims for a national championship.  5 News
  • Piper Gardenhire hit a walk-off double to help Farmington’s softball team win the 5A state title last week by a 3-2 score. Her clutch play marked a big moment for local sports.  4029 News
  • Arkansas and Missouri State will meet for the third time this season at 5 p.m. Friday in the NCAA Lawrence Regional. Coach Dave Van Horn praised Missouri State's program, noting that Arkansas leads the all-time series (62-30) in a rivalry built on decades of respectful competition.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Tuesday, May 26, the Razorbacks women’s golf team made program history by winning a quarterfinal match 5-0 against Oklahoma State and reaching the NCAA semifinals at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad before falling 3-2 to Southern California.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
