  • Compassion House — a nonprofit serving pregnant teen girls and mothers — saw its roof and exercise room damaged by storms in April and is asking local residents for urgent help to raise about $10,000 for repairs as visible damage remains outside.  4029 News

  • Inflation and high fuel prices are keeping grocery costs high, as local retailers pass on fuel surcharges—Steve Goode noted nearly 15% nationwide beef price increases and declining cattle supplies. Consumers may save money by checking in-store or online deals while stable fuel prices are awaited.  4029 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington County celebrated its first mental health court graduate Thursday—he completed therapy, medication, and work requirements that may lead to dismissal of his pending felony case, Judge Terra Stephenson said. Officials noted the program aims to help eligible defendants break the cycle of jail time.  4029 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Arkansas State Fire Marshal's Office reported 28 fire deaths so far this year, compared to 27 last year, with only two incidents involving working smoke alarms; fire officials urge residents to test alarms, replace batteries, and ask local fire departments about free installations.  5 News
