  • The Center for Arkansas Farms and Food is launching a mentorship program that connects experienced and new farmers in specialty crop production, with applications open until June 15+ It will also host a fundraiser on June 11 to support farm school graduates starting new farms.  4029 News

  • Loca Luna at 3519 Old Cantrell Road will set its reopening date based on feedback from invitation-only soft opening lunches and dinners this week as owner Fidel Samour tests its upscale redesign featuring a new side entrance and a dedicated bar area called The Landing.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Founded in 1961 in Lowell, J.B. Hunt Transport Services grew from a side business with a few trucks into one of the nation’s largest public truckload carriers. CULTURE NEWS

  • Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville is set to open its 114,000 sqft expansion this weekend with new art galleries and a creative learning hub. The museum will feature (Keith Haring in 3D) and other exhibitions for visitors starting Saturday and Sunday.  NWA Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Michael Shepherd will be the new principal at Don Tyson School of Innovation this fall in Springdale—he brings 31 years of education experience from roles including principal at Lakeside Junior High and will succeed Amy Harrison, who becomes the district’s K-12 Pathways director.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Human Services said Summer EBT recipients had to reset their PINs on May 30, 2026 after reports of out-of-state theft to protect benefits. DHS will move to a new vendor at the end of July — upgrading to cards with enhanced security features.  5 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Freeman Health System has finalized a $112m deal to purchase Northwest Health's four hospitals in the region — including Springdale Medical Center—and will expand access to maternal, specialty and behavioral care to better serve the community.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Local streams in the region offer fun, gentle whitewater floating options for beginner paddlers. Outfitters along the Buffalo, Kings and Illinois rivers provide gear and shuttle services (safety tips include wearing life jackets and planning for variable water levels) for a refreshing outdoor experience.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
