- ➤ Big Lake Wilderness—Arkansas's smallest federally designated wilderness area at 2,100 acres—is part of the Big Lake Wildlife Refuge created in August 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson to protect native and migratory birds. - ➤ Researchers at Oklahoma State University warn cattle producers that the Asian Longhorned Tick can cause deadly blood loss in cattle by reproducing quickly; the pest has been found in many states including Arkansas. They advise ranchers to check their animals regularly and call a veterinarian if the tick is spotted. KNWA
