BUSINESS NEWS

  • Walmart today announced that it will expand its drone delivery service with Wing to Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa—building on its operations in Dallas/Fort Worth and Northwest Arkansas while offering free delivery for Walmart+ members for a limited time.  NWA Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday afternoon that Janet Mann will lead the Department of Human Services, replacing Kristi Putnam who is returning to Kentucky and will leave on July 25—Mann will keep key programs running to support Arkansans.  KNWA
  • On Wednesday, Arkansas officials announced that more than 1 million residents now had REAL ID cards, with 331,600 issued since January 1. The numbers jumped as residents rushed to meet the May7 federal deadline (needed for air travel and access to federal buildings).  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent nationwide study ranked Arkansas 45 overall on child well-being with scores of 45 for economic well-being, 47 for health, 46 for family and community, and 36 for education - state leaders said stronger policies and more resource investment are needed to boost factors like third-grade reading levels and child poverty.  5 News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • A new guide ranks the top 10 ice cream spots in Northwest Arkansas and lists family-friendly places with dairy-free and frozen yogurt treats—this includes hidden gems like Paleteria Standard de Penjamo in Springdale.  Northwest Arkansas Travel Guide

SPORTS NEWS

  • Elliott Peterson nearly quit baseball in Nebraska—before he led Junior College Division I with a .517 average—and got a text from Razorbacks assistant coach Nate Thompson that set his plan in motion; he committed to Arkansas and became a key bullpen catcher who helped clinch a win over Tennessee that set up a trip to Omaha.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • At the Naturals game on June 21, a portion of each $12 ticket sale will go to the Isaiah Arrington Memorial Scholarship—honoring the Greenwood football player who died last October in a house fire. The $2,500 award will be given annually to a Greenwood walk-on player and Peppa Pig will appear at the pregame recognition ceremony beginning around 5:35 p.m.  5 News
