  • Residents gathered on Emma Avenue Friday night in Springdale to show support for immigrants amid heavy rain. The protest ran past its planned 9 p.m. end time—organizers chose the busy intersection for its high visibility and to echo similar rallies in LA.  4029 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Christopher Timos—a former Springdale banker at Arvest—was banned by the Federal Reserve from working at banks after he misappropriated $42,731 from customer accounts for personal use, and Springdale police are investigating the case.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Families of students in northwest Arkansas have filed a lawsuit to stop Act 573 of 2025— a law that will require classrooms to display the Ten Commandments when school starts on August 5. Legal director John Williams of the ACLU says the mandate violates the Constitution while supporters argue it promotes traditional values.  KNWA

FINANCE NEWS

  • Former Springdale banker Christopher Timos was banned by the Federal Reserve from working at banks after he took more than $40,000 from customer accounts for his own use—Springdale police are investigating his actions from Dec. 1 to March 20 as stated in a June 9 order.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin filed a brief with the state Supreme Court Friday asking for the dismissal of a lawsuit that challenges the constitutionality of the school voucher program under the LEARNS Act — he argued that sovereign immunity protects the state as the plaintiffs did not prove a clear legal violation.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • A wet spring in Northwest Arkansas delayed city mowing and sidewalk projects as crews in Fayetteville, Bentonville, and Bella Vista worked slowly due to slippery conditions—Springdale Public Works reported only minor delays in work. Forecasts call for more rain on Sunday with temperatures reaching the mid-80s, which may further impact maintenance schedules.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
