- ➤ The Arkansas Board of Corrections hired attorney Abtin Mehdizadegan for a civil suit against Attorney General Tim Griffin, but the AG’s office said the board cannot choose its own lawyer—only the governor can make that decision. The board certified its need for outside counsel while facing issues over unpaid fees and allegations of breaking state procurement and open-records laws. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
