  • Food Job Works celebrated 13 culinary program graduates on July 7 at Birdies Cabaret Theater and Lounge in Argenta, where chef instructor Michael Easley and the students prepared a five-course farm-to-table meal. The sold-out fundraiser raised support for a 10-week training program for participants who have overcome personal challenges and featured live music from Aurora the Band.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • XNA has unveiled a new art exhibit called Home and Away by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary at the airport, located past security near the B gates for free ticketed travelers. The exhibit will show four rotating groupings of works—landscapes, sculptures, and portraits—over the next two years to give visitors a taste of home in Northwest Arkansas.  4029 News
  • Local bands are set to release new albums at George’s Majestic Lounge this month. The Phlegms will perform on July 18 at 9 p.m. with openers Obliviate, stepmom and Committee Men for their 'Gulp!' release—while Mildenhall will celebrate their new album 'To and Fro' with special guests Ashtyn Barbaree and Modeling the following night.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas teenagers, including Amber Bae of Little Rock and winners from four local districts, have had their artwork selected for the U.S. Capitol’s Cannon Tunnel exhibit that will run for the next year—art pieces showing everyday scenes and state symbols as part of the annual Congressional Art Competition.   • Fifteen educators across Arkansas were named as finalists for 2026 Teacher of the Year by the Department of Education, and each finalist received a certificate (with a $1,000 prize from the Walton Family Foundation) while state semifinalists will be chosen on July 28 at the Governor's Mansion and the winner announced in the fall.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The Arkansas Department of Education announced the new Childcare Arkansas website on Monday to help parents quickly find licensed childcare providers by using a smart search tool that narrows results by ZIP code, center availability and ratings—fulfilling a key goal of the LEARNS Act.   • Deer hunters in Springdale are gearing up for early archery buck season, set to run Sept. 6-8, which gives them a rare chance to target bucks with velvet-covered antlers.
