GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington County Judge Patrick Deakins supported a joint meeting between the Benton and Washington quorum courts on Wednesday to discuss a regional growth strategy and said he will propose the idea at tonight’s session. The Northwest Arkansas Council plans to host the meeting in Springdale on Sept. 22 & the discussion will help shape plans for growth, housing, and wastewater improvements. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ The final phase of the Springdale Northern Bypass from Highway 265 to Highway 412 east of Springdale received a $24.46 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation on July 15 as part of a $488 million BUILD program award—this project, a nearly $1 billion, 21-mile roadway built in four phases, will have its 6.63-mile final leg start construction when funds allow.
