- ➤ School districts across Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley have set dates for the start of the 2025 school year, with Springdale Public Schools beginning on August 11 and other districts like Fayetteville and Rogers starting on August 12 and 13, respectively — the list also details dates for many public, private, and charter schools. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas residents with unclaimed property between $50 and $5,000 may receive automatic checks when a new law goes into effect on Aug.5. The data match initiative — sponsored by Sen. Dave Wallace and Rep. Jon Milligan — will use strict identity verification to send funds only to individual claimants while others must file claims. KNWA
- ➤ Longtime prosecutor Denis Dean announced on July 21 that he is running for Prosecuting Attorney for the 4th Judicial District — which covers Washington and Madison counties. He said he will use his 18 years of experience to support drug treatment, veterans and mental health courts as he runs in the March 3 primary. KNWA
- ➤ Beaver Water District saw a 50% increase in water sales since winter months — it now serves over 450,000 people. Director Trish Ouei said the new Beaver Believer Program and plans to build a clear well and pipeline — efforts to meet growing water demand will support the expanding community. KNWA
