- ➤ A report by Muck Rack and Rebuild Local News showed that the U.S. lost 75% of its local journalists over the past two decades—Arkansas ranked 19th nationally with some Northwest counties having more local journalists per 100,000 residents than many others. The study used data from Jan. 1 to Mar. 31 to measure local reporting capacity in over 3,000 counties. KNWA

- ➤ Fayetteville synth trio Modeling, made up of brothers (Connor, Ryan, and Cuinn Brogan), will perform with Ted Hammig and The Campaign and Frailstate on Aug. 9 at Railyard Live and on Aug. 16 during Anvil Fest at The Momentary. - ➤ Northwest Arkansas added an estimated 11,100 nonfarm jobs in June, boosting employment by 3.65% while its unemployment rate climbed from 3% to 3.4%—Fort Smith saw nonfarm jobs increase by 1.65% with its jobless rate rising from 3.8% to 4%. KNWA

- ➤ Local school districts are preparing to enforce the Bell to Bell, No Cell Act, a new law that bans cellphones during school hours after lawmakers passed the bill to help keep students safe. Fayetteville Public Schools already use the rule for K-6 students and Superintendent John Mulford will explain how parents can contact their children via email today on 40/29 News On The Record — a move designed to support student safety. 4029 News

- ➤ KUAF is set to lose nearly $200,000 as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting shuts down by September 30—station manager Clint Schaff said the cut threatens music licensing and emergency alert coverage. KUAF will launch its Bridge the Gap program on August 3 to ask local residents for help in replacing the lost federal funds. 5 News
