  • The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host the third annual World Champion Squirrel Cook-Off on Sept 13 at its Ozark Highlands Nature Center in Springdale — up to 40 three-person cooking teams will fire up grills at 9 a.m. and present their dishes to judges beginning at noon — and the event will also include squirrel skinning, eating and air-gunning contests.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, was named to the Tyson Foods board on August 7—she joins a group that includes former governor Mike Beebe and other experienced leaders. Bond said she is enthusiastic about helping guide the company’s long-term growth strategy.  5 News
  • Several professionals have joined key health and business organizations in Northwest Arkansas—Dr. Caitlin Campbell joined Washington Regional Neurology Clinic at the J.B. Hunt Neuroscience Institute, Becky McAnulty began at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, and doctors started roles at MANA Family Medicine and Baptist Health Family Clinic-Alma. LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • A local angler and his grandson canoed the Caddo River above Glenwood last Thursday when low water forced them to push their 15-foot-8-inch canoe by hand through rock-strewn rapids — they caught smallmouth bass and other fish despite challenging conditions.   • Mount Sequoyah Center is hosting the Marshall Islands Soccer Federation as they prepare for their first-ever international 11-a-side match in the 2025 Outrigger Cup — scheduled at Springdale High School’s Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium. The team, which trains in Northwest Arkansas, will face opponents from the US Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands and Ozark United U19s on games set from Aug. 13th to 16th.  KNWA
