ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Prairie Grove animal rescue groups mourn Marcia Donnelly—founder of Spay Arkansas and the NWA Community Cat Project—who died after a two-vehicle collision on Aug. 15 when officers responded to an accident at Little Elm Road and Highway 62, and she did not recover after emergency surgery at Washington Regional Medical Center.  KNWA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • McNelly Farms, a luxury retreat on a 48-acre property at 8015 E. McNelly Road north of Bentonville, officially opened on Aug 17 with a two-story estate home featuring seven bedrooms for up to 20 guests—amenities include a chef’s kitchen, wine cellar and speakeasy lounge. Developed by Jay Howard and NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin, the property was bought for $3.33 million and financed by Generations Bank, and it will host weddings, corporate retreats and group adventures in the future.  KNWA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has appointed Springdale resident Aaron Abbott to the State Board of Education—he will serve until June 30, 2032 and work with fellow board members to support LEARNS Act changes.  KNWA
  • Springdale will spend nearly $7 million to extend Don Tyson Parkway from Gene George Boulevard to Arkansas 112 (cost announced by the city).  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
