BUSINESS NEWS

  • J.B. Hunt announced that Brad Delco is promoted to chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance and his new role will begin on Sept 1—John Kuhlow will shift to chief accounting officer to focus on financial management. Delco has worked with J.B. Hunt since 2019 and led investor relations and planning as part of the company’s financial strategy.  NWA Business Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Two people were arrested Thursday in Fayetteville for domestic battery—Trenton Jackson, 24, was held in Benton County Jail without bond and Ebony Roberts, 45, was kept at Washington County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Three people were arrested for various charges in Northwest Arkansas—Eoff, 18 from Rogers was held for an aggravated assault on a household member with no bond, Bauer, 23 from Fayetteville was charged with stalking and held on a $100,000 bond, and Bender, 20 from Lincoln was arrested for aggravated assault, domestic battery and resisting arrest.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The Washington County Fair is open this weekend with hot weather expected and TheatreSquared debuting its new show The 'Three Musketeers'. Local music venues are set to host live acts such as the Avett Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony — offering fans a variety of entertainment options throughout the weekend.  Fayetteville Flyer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Friday morning, ARDOT broke ground on the new interstate bridge over the Arkansas River in Barling—this bridge is the first of four phases to connect I-49 from the River Valley to Texarkana with off and on ramps at Gun Club Road in Van Buren and phase one set to finish in 2029.  4029 News
  • Arkansas attorney general filed an appeal against a federal judge’s injunction that blocked a law requiring the Ten Commandments be posted in public schools—officials say the state will contend the law is constitutional and dispute the judge’s choice to keep the lawsuit active despite jurisdiction questions.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
