  • State Police investigated after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Arkansas 187 near Nightingale Road north of Eureka Springs early Saturday, with the victim pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m.—officers are asking for help in locating a white Chevrolet pickup truck involved.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • JukeBoxx and the Jeff Horton Band will perform a free, family friendly concert in Downtown Springdale on Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m.—part of the LIVE! at Turnbow outdoor series.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Little Rock native Eden Boles, a 21-year-old biology major, was named Miss Howard University for the 2025-26 school year and will be crowned on Oct. 19 at the school’s Washington, D.C., campus — a title earned after a competitive pageant and campaign that highlighted her Arkansas roots. She will complete her senior year and plans to attend medical school while pursuing a master’s in public health after graduation.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • A new Arkansas law—set to take effect this fall—will limit the kinds of disposable vaping products stores can sell and impose tougher rules on tobacco advertising. State lawmakers say the regulation is meant to protect public health.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
