EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ NorthWest Arkansas Community College announced in April a one-billion-dollar expansion plan that will add five athletic programs – a new field team this school year, men’s and women’s soccer in 2026, and baseball with softball following in 2028. The college will also break ground later this year on a multipurpose complex to serve as the home for soccer and track teams. KNWA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced a goal of 8.82% participation for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in federally assisted highway projects — for fiscal years 2026 through 2028 — and is accepting public comment on the target. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Prairie Grove City Council is set to vote at its next meeting in September on an ordinance that would allow utility task vehicles on city streets—this change could affect local traffic practices. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
