  • North Little Rock singer Adam Faucett will release his new album Variations on the Reaper Friday — the 10-song project has a spooky Southern Gothic feel that shows his high-level work. Fans in Springdale are eager to hear the haunting sound on offer.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A public forum held at Centerton City Hall showed that households in Benton and Washington counties spent 24% of income on transportation and 22% on housing, leaving less for other needs—regional leaders said rising costs strain household funds and public budgets. The study recommends mixed-use and multi-family developments to help manage expenses as the region grows.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Tuesday’s Cass Freight Index report showed shipments fell 1.5% in August compared with July and 9.3% from August last year, suggesting trade wars weighed on shipping and logistics. J.B. Hunt and ArcBest reported a soft freight market that is expected to lead to further declines in 2025—local trucking jobs could feel the impact.  NWA Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration warned state residents about a text scam that tried to get financial information by pretending to be a government agency — the department urged people not to share Social Security numbers, banking details, or tax credentials and to verify any unexpected messages.  KNWA
  • Arkansas Secretary of State Cole Jester announced his 'One State One Vote' initiative to work with surrounding states to stop people from registering in or voting in more than one state—his office will investigate duplicates and remove voters who have permanently moved out. This effort aims to boost election security and keep voter registration accurate.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Flu season is here and the Arkansas Department of Health is offering walk-in flu shot clinics across the state starting Monday, September 22. Residents in Springdale can use an interactive online map divided by five regions—northwest, northeast, central, southwest and southeast—to find a clinic.  KNWA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Volunteers are busy working ahead of the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, with some having lent their support for up to 19 years. Matthew Moore, a five-year helper at the Caddie Tent, said he returns because the teamwork—he enjoys the camaraderie that makes the tournament run smoothly.  KNWA
  • Brad Conley of Rogers now uses a modern ground blind from TIDEWE—costing about $150—to gain a 270° view while deer pass by, and Alan Thomas of Benton prefers a lighter option at $40. Experts note that as hunters learn the terrain and use turkey calls, traditional elevated tree stands are becoming less necessary.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • University of Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek said at the Little Rock Touchdown Club that the Razorbacks football team is not in a position to compete for a national title now while other teams are ready, and Coach Pittman explained on the SEC webinar that revenue sharing will eventually level the field for recruiting. Coach Pittman also noted that after a tough loss at Ole Miss the team made practice adjustments and is watching key players like cornerback Kani Walker, who is in concussion protocols—further changes will be planned if needed.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
