CULTURE NEWS

  • Hundreds of British cars and motorcycles gathered in Springdale as members of the British Iron Touring Club held driving tours from the Holiday Inn— the 23rd Brits in the Ozarks event will continue today with a car show at Agri Park in Fayetteville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Hundreds of British cars and motorcycles arrived in Springdale as part of the 23rd Brits in the Ozarks event, with participants taking driving tours on Thursday at the Holiday Inn. A car show is set to run today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Agri Park in Fayetteville.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Arkansas' unemployment rate rose in August to 3.8%, up one-tenth of a percentage point from the previous month (according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics and the state Department of Commerce). This change ended a five-month period of steady rates.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Education released public school letter grades on Friday showing nearly three-quarters of K-12 schools earned a C or higher under a new curved grading system—using ATLAS for assessments. Lawmakers approved the system in August to improve clarity about student performance and growth.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced a multi-billion-dollar investment from Taiwan in Arkansas agriculture on Sep 19 — two letters of intent signed by leading agricultural groups commit to buying corn and soybeans with further negotiations planned. The deals will support local row crop farmers with orders set for 2026 to 2029.  KNWA
  • Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has negotiated a lower health insurance rate increase from 54.2% to 35.8% for six companies covering 308,662 Arkansans—new rates effective January 1st, 2026 will save money for both beneficiaries and taxpayers.  KNWA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arkansas health insurers offering plans on healthcare.gov are asking for a 22.1% premium hike next year, which Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said is about one-third lower than earlier proposals for over 308000 Arkansans—changes that still need approval from the Arkansas Insurance Department before taking effect on Jan. 1. The rate increases affect plans from Centene and Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Today the Arkansas Razorbacks face the undefeated Memphis Tigers at 11 a.m. on ABC as the team must win to secure a .500 season and bowl bid—coach Sam Pittman said the players need to improve their defense and adjust the running game.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G is underway with 144 golfers vying for cash prizes from $450,000 to lower awards — the $3 million purse will see one winner take home $450,000 as KNWA/FOX24 covers the event all weekend.  KNWA
