  • The data firm dunnhumby launched its business incubator dunnhumby Incubate in Bentonville to help early-stage companies in data science and retail tech by offering a proposals portal and an internal competition during Retail Innovation Week. Fayetteville will host the State of the Northwest Arkansas Region report on Oct 23 to update economic trends, and the Arkansas Index ended lower at 920.44—a 7.07 point drop.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A state audit of Tontitown city finances prompted a review by the local prosecuting attorney and spurred debate among City Council members—official responses are still pending.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Northwest Arkansas National Airport officials plan a new western concourse and a convenience store on the airport property—while they will also consider buying 100 acres and starting a traffic study for roads around the airport. The panel has approved up to $4.1 million for the next phase of the expansion.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • A reader questioned if second-hand stores that sell mostly vintage T-shirts are good choices for buying work clothes and suggested they may serve better for first-job needs.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas is expected to host junior college interior offensive lineman Jarmaine Mitchell in a few weeks — he will visit Fayetteville for the Texas A&M game on Oct. 18 to learn more about Razorbacks training.
