- ➤ Walmart’s bakery business earns about $3 million a week from cake decoration, where workers start early to make 150,000 cakes and earn roughly $19.25 per hour for their skilled work (decorators can earn up to $30 per hour in Northwest Arkansas). The custom cake service sees a busy season during graduations when more than 1 million cakes are decorated, helping the store meet personal cake orders for birthdays, weddings, and other events. - ➤ The Northwest Arkansas Council has proposed a new regional industrial development authority that will let three counties finance and build large-scale real estate projects to attract businesses and create more jobs and tax revenue. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Officials confirmed that the invasive Asian longhorned tick has spread to nearly two dozen states—including Arkansas—and poses a threat to livestock as its bite can cause deadly blood loss.
