Bentonville-based Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas received $135,000 in donations from the Schmieding Foundation and Chambers Bank, which put the Building for Success Capital Campaign at 69% of its $7.4 million goal to build a new Springdale headquarters called the Pat Walker Center for Success—Schmieding’s gift funds a walking path while Chambers Bank gains naming rights for a community gathering space in the therapeutic garden.

On Oct. 16 at 10:16 a.m., over 24,000 Arkansans will join an earthquake readiness drill organized by the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to practice dropping, covering and holding on during an earthquake.
