- ➤ Botanical Garden of the Ozarks received a $220,000 donation from Nancy Totemeier Koch & William D. Koch to fund a new greenhouse and upgrades to the Totemeier Horticulture & Event Center that will boost plant capacity and visitor education. - ➤ J.B. Hunt posted a 12.35% rise in net income to $170.84 million in the third quarter while revenue slipped 0.5% to $3.05 billion, beating analyst estimates; the company credited strong intermodal and dedicated segments for the results and noted over $20 million in cost reductions so far — part of a $100 million initiative. - ➤ Wait times for new business filings have dropped to a day from 14 days, according to Secretary of State Cole Jester. - ➤ The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will host Girlology’s Something New About You program at 2422 N Thompson St. in Springdale from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for girls ages 8 to 14 with a parent, where UAMS physicians will teach about growth, hygiene and menstruation; registration is required with tickets at $50 per pair and scholarships available. - ➤ Justin Jones, an experienced math tutor from Springdale, was unanimously appointed to the vacant Fayetteville School Board seat for Zone 4 during a special meeting held on October 8 — his more than 20 years in tutoring and teaching will add a vital classroom perspective to the board's work — the decision comes as the board seeks to bolster educational options and improve teacher retention. - ➤ Springdale City Council approved a resolution that funds an expansion of Arkansas Children’s Northwest, adding new shell space, 15 inpatient beds, two operating rooms and other improvements for almost $83 million. The resolution provides a $42 million bond that the hospital and its partners will repay — a move that supports future local growth. KNWA

- ➤ The Big Dill will build a $50 million pickleball academy in Springdale in partnership with UA’s Health, Human Performance and Recreation department—focusing on research and student internships.
