- ➤ On Sept. 22nd, Walmart bought 38.70 acres near Herbaugh Road in Springdale for $4 million and a week later purchased 50.43 acres near Old Wire Road and East Apple Blossom Avenue for $11.23 million—its plans for the land remain undisclosed. KNWA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Angela Stephens is grieving after her 21-year-old son, Zachary Moore, died at the Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center last month — his death was ruled a homicide after he was restrained following an alleged attempt to bite a staff member, and eleven employees were placed on leave while another was terminated. 5 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Three Pea Ridge schools completed a Heart Safe School drill yesterday using a CPR mannequin and AED as local EMS and staff practiced a real-life emergency response—this exercise supports safety training ahead of Act 352 requirements. KNWA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close one lane on Highway 187 over Beaver Dam on Nov. 13th for a routine inspection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. + Flaggers will direct traffic and drivers should use extra caution during the closure. KNWA
- ➤ Fayetteville may face a $15 million annual impact on utility bills if SWEPCO’s proposed rate increase is approved, as explained by Environmental Director Peter Nierengarten during a panel at the Fayetteville Public Library. Residents can submit public comments and attend a hearing on Dec. 4 at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Springdale. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, Peregrine Health and Arcare expanded their partnership to connect 35 Arkansas locations with behavioral health services by the end of this year. The collaboration will help tens of thousands of patients—many in rural areas—access counseling and psychiatric care and will also link clinics in Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. - ➤ The Razorbacks are set to play Auburn today at 11:45 a.m. at Razorback Stadium, and meteorologist Drake Foley noted rain is likely with low thunder chances while lightning within an 8-mile radius could pause play for 30 minutes. Kyle Parkinson said officials will decide on delays during the game and advised fans to bring rain gear since umbrellas are not allowed. 4029 News
- ➤ In a game held Friday, the Arkansas Razorbacks hosted the Cincinnati Bearcats in the second annual CareSource Invitational exhibition at Bud Walton Arena to promote mental health awareness. Both teams participated in a morning pep rally at Har-Ber High School—CareSource later presented a $10,000 check to expand the school's mental health resources. 5 News
