  • Local franchise owner Kenzie Greene said her family will open a Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream shop in Fayetteville this spring at 2345 N. College Avenue — a building that once housed a Burger King — making it the chain’s second Arkansas location. The shop will offer 48 in-house flavors including non-dairy and vegan options.  Fayetteville Flyer

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northwest Arkansas Community College has opened applications for its Track II Accelerated Nursing Program, a four-semester course that lets students earn an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing faster and prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam. Applicants with a 2.75 GPA must take the National League of Nursing exam (9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on December 1 and 2) and apply to either the Bentonville campus or Washington County Center before midnight on December 1.  KNWA

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold its 'Thanks-for-Giving' drive on November 26 at donor centers in Bentonville, Springdale, Joplin and Thomson from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donors will receive a limited-edition Kansas City Chiefs t-shirt plus a chance to win game tickets and an Aldi gift card — the drive is set to help supply life-saving blood ahead of Thanksgiving.  KNWA
  • A highly contagious horse virus outbreak forced the cancellation of the Lazy E BFA World Championship in Guthrie after horses tested positive—officials warn horse owners to quarantine any exposed animals for 14 days. Equestrian Bridges in Rogers cancelled its Winter Wonderland event scheduled for Dec. 6—ticket refunds will be issued to those who have not received them by Nov. 24.  KNWA
