- ➤ Maysville Volunteer Fire Department Cadet Colby Amos, who was on a ventilator after a motorcycle crash on Nov. 11 while heading to EMT school, is now awake, speaking and breathing on his own—though he remains weak with leg issues as his family plans further therapy and accepts donations at today's chili supper at 5 p.m. KNWA

- ➤ Tyson Foods announced Friday that it will shutter its Lexington, Neb. beef plant and cut 3,200 jobs as part of its plan to right-size its beef business. The company will also reduce production to one shift at its Amarillo plant amid low cattle supplies—steps that include boosting output at other facilities to meet customer demand. - ➤ The Jones Center raised $310,000 at its Big Night Gala on November 21 to support the Access for Everyone scholarship program aimed at offering low-cost access to local recreation, sports, arts, culture, science and education programs—more than 350 guests, including leaders from Tyson Foods and Walmart, attended the event—demonstrating strong community support. - ➤ Arkansas earned an 'F' grade on the March of Dimes report for maternal and infant health with a steady preterm birth rate of 12.1% and a rise in infant deaths to 8.2%—placing the state 47th for preterm births and 51st for infant mortality. The report also shows progress in maternal care with improved trends in severe maternal morbidity and maternal mortality after new state laws were passed. KNWA

- ➤ Arkansas women’s basketball bounced back from their first loss with a balanced performance against Little Rock, winning 96–57 at Bud Walton Arena last Thursday night. Senior guard Taleyah Jones led with 19 points—freshman Bonnie Deas recorded a double-double—and coach Kelsi Musick credited the strong ball sharing and full-court pressure for the win.
